My career started in front of the camera, so I know how challenging your work is and how important your headshot is to your career. I have worked all over the world as a model and spent several years as a commercial actor. Many of you may know me from my time as a Commercial Casting Session Director. I have worked for all the best Casting Directors and I have seen it all. I know what they are looking for and I know what it takes to get a great shot that gets you into the room!
I learned my skills as a photographer from some of the best photographers in the world. When I wasn't in front of the camera, I was behind it, with the photographer, asking questions and observing. When I wasn't on a shoot, I was honing my skills shooting in locations all over Europe, Africa and Japan.
But, enough about me. Let's get back to what it takes to get you in the room.
You need photos that make you look great, but still look like you. When you show up you don't want them wondering what happened to the person in that headshot? Trust me, it's a bit crushing to the ego to see someone look at your photo, then look at you and say, "That's you? That doesn't look like you." So, if your photos are old, you've gained or lost weight, changed your hair or your look in any way, get a new photo! This is equally important for Business Headshots as it is for actors and models.
What about portraits? Portrait shoots are great because, together, we connect your photo to your life story, all in one shot. I love creating this connection. By learning about you and your story I bring that into your shoot and create a truly unique photo.
For models who are new to the game, I can be of tremendous help to you. I made a darn good and adventurous living traveling the world as a model and have a footlocker full of tear sheets, to prove it. So I know what it takes to be a good model and it's not all about posing. First tip, be humble.
People want to work with and be around fun and interesting people, not cocky, overconfident ones. The other tips you will learn on your shoot, which will be fun and informative.
